Not being one who over decorates for Summer I decided to add a few subtle touches to my home for the season. Florals are one way I love to change with each new season since this is a relatively inexpensive way to change the mood of your home. Candles are another great way to bring the essence of each season to a home.
I kept everything light and airy up entering into my sunroom by displaying a combination of creamy-white carnations along with lamb’s ear and eucalyptus leaves in a tall white and galvanized vase.
Now for the best part of my Summer decorating, my newly made over built-ins. When Mr. C and I bought our home 3 years ago the previous owners painted everything the same color in the living room. It was very dull and lifeless so I decided to paint the built-ins and remove the doors so I could showcase some beautiful baskets. Well, the baskets never happened and I wasn’t so thrilled with the paint job so I decided to give the built-ins a makeover.
As you can see in the picture below, this is how our living room looked when we purchased our home. I fell in love with the fireplace and built-ins but not with the color of them. I managed to get the fireplace white-washed with the help of my oldest son and I painted the built-ins in the color Kendall Charcoal from Benjamin Moore.
Fast forward to now and as you can see the fireplace looks amazing so it was time to re-makeover the built-ins.
