Home Decor Haul and Upcycled Thrift Find

April 24, 2019 in DIY projects, home decor - No Comments

On my home styling journey of going from a farmhouse look to a more transitional look, I have been selling a lot of my farmhouse decor and replacing it with home decor I can live with for at least 3 years or more. As an avid Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s and Target shopper, I started to feel as if my home looked like everyone else’s so I want to limit how much decor I buy from these stores. To give myself some guidelines on shopping for my home, I started asking myself the following questions before buying anything:

  • Is it in the budget?
  • Do I LOVE it- not like it- LOVE it?
  • Is it a good quality item?
  • Do I have a place for it? {and no, leaving it in the bag until I can decide doesn’t count}
  • Can I look at it in my home for at least the next 3 years? {This is for home decor only.  For furniture, I want to be able to see it in my home for 5 + years depending on the investment made}

If the answer is yes to all of these questions, I go ahead and buy. This will limit how much money I spend on home decor and will also help me keep my home clutter-free of unnecessary “things”.

Over the past few weeks I have been purchasing times for my home while asking myself my 5 questions and even found a thrift store item I upcycled into a gorgeous piece of home decor.
